What is the best grass for Fresno, CA?
I live in Fresno, CA AKA Central California. I am looking for the best grass seed for this area. I want a lovely green and thick lawn. The lawn I have now is pretty decent but I want it thicker and greener. I am willing to do a little work for it but I prefer not to have to dig anything up also I needed it to be price worthy. I do not have a whole lot of money to spend on it otherwise I would buy Sod LOL. Thanks in advance

I would use the following: Fescue/Blue grass mix either a 90/10 or 95/5 % mix. These are wide blade varieties that will work in full sun. Their is also a sun/shade blend this usually has fine fescue such as hard, red, and chewing fescue mixed in with per annual rye grass, and a Bonsai these these are finer bladed grasses. You can mow your lawn as short as possible and just over seed and water it as needed. Don't mow for about two weeks. You can get this seed at Horizon they have a store in Fresno, Ca.
