Hi. I live in Fresno and got a job offer from the State of California to work in Avenal.?
It's a good job, and it will pay me more then I have ever made at any other job. My question is to anyone who works in Avenal, how is the commute? Is it long? Would I be better off living closer to Avenal or just commuting from Fresno each day? It's a fulltime job, a permanent position.

Based on some proprietary data that I have at work, I checked a route from Pizza Pit, 2705 N Blackstone Ave, Fresno, CA 93703 (559) 225-9900 to and from Andrea's Pizza, 223 E Kings St, Avenal, CA 93204 (559) 386-5678. The best route is the CA-41 to Avenal Cutoff Road to Skyline Boulevard – 63.2 miles that would take 1 hour and 11 minutes if uncongested to Avenal and 1 hour and 16 minutes from Avenal. Overall, not too bad for California as it is a reverse commute and if you can put up with the ride and have a good car why bother with the expense and hassle of moving. If that does not work for you, move closer to Avenal. In the 7 AM hour, the travel time will be: 1 hour and 12 minutes on Monday; 1 hour and 17 minutes on Tuesday; 1 hour and 19 minutes on Wednesday; 1 hour and 18 minutes on Thursday; 1 hour and 20 minutes on Friday; 1 hour and 19 minutes on Saturday; and 1 hour and 15 minutes on Sunday. In the 5 PM hour, the travel time will be: 1 hour and 18 minutes every day except Sunday when it would be 1 hour and 17 minutes. Of course, the travel times assume that there are not any crashes or incidents along your route – hard to know in advance when those will happen. You should can check out the mapquest.com page for your preferred route(s) and you can click on "traffic" at the top right of the webpage to see what conditions are like at the time(s) you want to go there and back to see what traffic is like and how long it should take you. Over an hour each way... I would not recommend it. Unless you can't move because you have kids in school or something like that, I would move.

I'm guessing in Clovis or Fresno.

Get her a paper route. There isn't much else right now. I know plenty of adults in the Fresno/Clovis area and they can't find a decent job right now.

u have to be 16 to work, when she becomes 16, then start worrying about a job
